Mesenterium commune, gut malrotation, Crohn's disease of terminal ileum

CASE

This is a variant of gut malrotation, where large bowel occupies left side of abdomen and small bowel the right side. Note also acute inflammatory changes of the terminal ileum (edematous thickening of bowel wall, increased enhancement of mucosal layer, stranding of adjacent fat, engorgement of vasa recta) in Crohn's disease.
