Carcinosis of pericard and pleura, empyema, nephrectomy

CASE

This patient underwent nephrectomy due to advanced conventional renal carcinoma. There are soft tissue nodules in the pericardium and in the left pleural cavity, which contains a thick walled collection called empyema. Note also that on the unenhaced scan, the density of blood in the cardiac ventricles is lower than in the density of the myocardium indicating anemia.
