Layering of gas in the large bowel

CASE

In the ascending colon, there is a layer of gas between the feces and the wall. However, gas can be seen only in the dependent parts of the lumen that are in direct contact with fecal material, the patient has no symptoms suggesting bowel ischemia, mesenterial vessels are patent, and the bowel wall is enhancing normally. Therefore, this is not gas in the bowel wall.
