Axial CT section of the neck shows enlargement of lymph nodes along the sternocleidomastoid muscle. The nodes are enhancing on PET images. Ultrasound show that these lymph nodes have markedly thickened and hypoechoic cortex, they are mostly round in shape, but have preserved hilar echo with prominent vasculature. Resistence index and pulsatility index are increased indicating rather malignant etiology. Lymphatic nodes in lymphoma come in various appearances - from hypoechoic to isoechoic and granular echostructure of the thickened cortex. They can even show infiltration of the surrounding fat and necrosis.
