Medullary nephrocalcinosis, calcification of medulla, nephrocalcinosis

CASE

Ultrasound shows hyperechoic outline of renal medulla, that does not cast shadow due to very small size of calcium phosphate deposition in the tissue. However, more centrally, accumulation of more tiny echoes from calcium causes discrete shadowing. The cortex has reduced thickness.
