Osteolytic changes of femur

CASE

Osteolytic metastasis (from breast carcinoma) in the right proximal femur - the neck, intertrochanteric and subronchanteric area. The metastasis can be seen on plain radiograph as a hyperlucent area and thinning of cortical bone. CT shows replacement of spongious bone by soft tissue and permeative destruction of the cortical bone. MRI shows better the soft tissue component of the mass. Bone scintigraphy shows slighly increased activity in this region.
