Subcutaneous emphysema after operation of hernia

CASE

A patient, who underwent operation of the abdominal hernia, developed abdominal pain postoperatively. We did not find any reason for this. However, there was a finding of subcutaneous emphysema in the left mesogastrium (a geographic area of increased lucency) on abdomina radiograph and subcutaneous gas (hyperechoic layer with posterior shadowing) on ultrasound.
