Volvulus of sigmoid colon, coffee bean sign

CASE

Distended sigmoid colon loop with a haustral fold on its inner side resembling a coffee bean is a typical appearance of sigmoid volvulus on plain abdominal radiograph. In contrast to cecal volvus, the distended loop points to the right upper quadrant.
